Dr. Ellen is a leader and innovator in the health field, combining his unique thirty years experiences as a practicing physician, respected hospital CEO, world class epidemiologist, public health practitioner, leader of a multi-specialty physician practice, and social scientist to raise the value of care and reduce health inequities. Dr. Ellen developed and directed STI/HIV prevention and case management programs for San Francisco and Baltimore City Health Departments. As a Johns Hopkins Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology (~250 peer reviewed publications), he conducted multiple federally funded studies of social determinants of health; analyzed big data; and investigated behavioral health and case management approaches to care. As CEO and Vice Dean of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital-a 259 bed free-standing children's hospital with annual revenues of over five hundred million dollars and more than thirty-five hundred employees, Dr. Ellen successfully led the development and completion of the five-year strategic plan and the five-year financial plan; exceeded peer institutions' quality benchmarks; led the academic transformation of the hospital into an academic pediatric health system; led an employed multi-specialty physician practice group with over 200 employed physicians; and successfully negotiated long-standing managed care contracts resulting in incremental increases in millions of reimbursement dollars. As Chairman of the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida, Dr. Ellen successfully led statewide initiatives to ensure increased Medicaid reimbursements for care.
Mark is a healthcare entrepreneur and co-founder of industry-leading ventures-including United BioSource Corporation (UBC), a leader in real-world research addressing safety, value, and comparative effectiveness for the life sciences industry, and US Bioservices, a provider of personalized, direct-to-patient distribution services for specialty pharmaceuticals and biologics. Mark was CEO of PMR Corporation, a leading provider of outpatient services for psychiatric and central nervous system disorders.
Margaret was a partner at the global law firm of Hogan Lovells LLP for 20 years where she was co-head of the employee benefits and executive compensation practice and was an advisor to public and private companies as they implemented comprehensive health and wellness programs.
Maria has 30 years of experience working in various settings and roles in her social work career. Maria obtained her graduate degree in an advanced standing program from Indiana University and earned her clinical license in 2011. Maria’s work history includes case management, therapy, collegiate instruction, discharge planning, administration, and sales and marketing. In addition to her skills and knowledge, her energy and passion are at the forefront of all that she does in helping people.
Sam has spent his career building technology to improve various facets of the healthcare system. His experience in the interoperability space includes architecting and implementing integrations with many industry leading electronic health records across care settings including Epic, Cerner, athenaHealth, eClinicalWorks, and AdvancedMD. He has also led the development of provider-facing, EHR-integrated clinical decision support tooling that is currently being used by emergency room physicians across the country. Sam previously founded and led a digital health startup called StrokeFlow in conjunction with Ferdinand Hui, an Interventional Radiologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
